Planning Hacks

  • Rome@Rio, a trip planning app, provides transportation options to help you get anywhere in the world you want to go. I like to use it when I’m first planning a trip to explore my options.
  • The TripIt app conveniently organizes all your reservations in one place. You’ll even receive reminders before and during your trip!
  • Print your boarding pass. Don’t rely solely on the electronic readers at the airport or your phone battery.
  • Check your passport expiration date. If the expiration date is within 6-9 months of your return date home you should apply for a new passport.
  • Make two copies of your passport. Leave one copy with someone at home and keep the other with you but separate from your passport.
  • Many countries require at least one blank page in your passport for Visa and immigration stamps. Check before you leave!
  • The best time-saving travel investment you can make is to enroll in Global Entry and TSA precheck. Many credit card companies offer discounts to cardholders so be sure to check yours before you enroll.
